To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Barry Honig
My name is Brandon McThay, CEO and owner of Florida Vipers Non- Profit basketball organization. I have known Barry for over 10 years, dating back to 2008 during the time of a depression when he gave my family and I an opportunity. Barry believed in my dream of entrepreneurship and to help re-build and uplift my community. Barry Honig is highly respected as an honorable friend, mentor, and advisor for both his peers and community. Since the inception of the Florida Viper program in 2012, I have been honored and blessed to have Mr. Barry Honig as one of the major influencers and generous supporters of the Florida Vipers organization. With his help we have been able to provide young inner-city athletes a better future, which in turn has helped numerous families and households by helping these students obtain scholarships into major ivy leagues, universities, and colleges. Mr. Honig has donated his time and has made it a priority to follow these students throughout their academic and athletic journey. Florida Vipers places an increased emphasis on education and the strength of our volunteer base and organizational partnerships. I truly admire Barry’s character, knowledge, genuine love for his community, and mission which embraces our mission, which is to educate and empower promising inner-city youth to be leaders, champions and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.
We could not have achieved our success without the help of dedicated community influencers and mentors like Mr. Barry Honig himself. Since 2008, The Florida Vipers has maintained a 100% high school graduation rate, graduates have maintained a 98% college matriculation rate and 75% college completion rate within the past 6 years. We currently have 78 alums playing college basketball and 20 alums playing professionally – including 2 in the NFL playing for the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Furthermore, 408 Florida Vipers student-athletes have been placed in college prep high schools, in Florida and throughout the nation. 314 Florida Vipers graduates currently attend or have graduated from some of the nation’s finest college institutions (including Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, Duke, Florida, Vanderbilt & Yale). Below are some of our alumni from our program whom Mr. Honig has helped sponsor and still inquire about their future endeavors.
